Sustainable Sewing: Alter Your Clothes

  • SPOKANE ZERO WASTE 2026 North Hamilton Street Spokane, WA, 99207 United States (map)

Beginner sewing class!

Learn to alter a Button Down Shirt!

Join us for the first class in our new series of workshops all about altering garments. In this hands-on beginner workshop, you’ll learn simple techniques to alter a button down shirt, including altering the hem and sleeves. Sewing machines and tools will be provided; bring your own shirts to upcycle or practice on one of ours.

This is a beginner sewing class and is appropriate for anyone who can thread a machine and sew a straight seam.

An estimated 11.3 million tons of textile waste end up in U.S. landfills each year, by shifting our habits to alter and wear what already exists, we can make a huge dent in that number.
