Take your sewing to the next level, make a simple fanny/cross body bag, you got this!
In this class you'll learn basic bag-making techniques like topstitching on vinyl, adjustable strap construction, zipper installation and the essentials on how to birth a bag. There will be examples of bags made with everything from marine vinyl to upcycled t-shirts that will hopefully inspire you to look at textiles and bag making in a new way.
All materials and sewing machines will be provided, including a copy of the pattern we'll use in class to take home and make more bags on your own. We'll be using materials from SZW's stash, including marine vinyl, canvas, and other woven fabrics.
Prerequisites: Need to be able to thread a sewing machine, manage basic troubleshooting and be able to sew a semi-consistent seam allowance (this pattern is forgiving if you can't sew a perfect 1/4" seam allowance, don't sweat it, I promise). Experience with easing curves is a plus.
